Lend a Helping Paw

How can you help the G.E.L.A. Foundation help the shelter and rescue pups?

We have several ways YOU can give extraordinary love, some won't even cost you a kibble.

Get Extraordinary Love: Adopt

If you’ve been thinking that it’s time to add a pet to your family, consider adopting from a local shelter or rescue group. Search for available cats and dogs near you at the Shelter Pet Project. Feel free to contact us for some of the great rescues we work with directly.

Become a foster

The value of fosters can't be overrated. They can be lifesavers for pets who can't adapt to shelter life, those who need to be nursed back to health and orphaned kittens who need someone to step in for their

mom (or whose needs are beyond what busy shelter staff can often provide).

Volunteer

Even if you can’t adopt a pet just now, you can help make life better for animals in your community by volunteering with your local shelter or rescue organization. Do you have experience as a carpenter or electrician? Are you a marketing or dog-walking whiz? All of these skills are valuable! Or be open to learning something new that is needed, such as trap-neuter-return for unowned cats.

Be a Champion

Give a pup a shelter break

A VIP (Very Important Pup) will be selected to participate in the Be A Champion program. Arrangements will be made for the dog to have a fun-filled day away from the shelter full of all the things that a dog loves – a hike at the park, a trip to Starbucks for a Puppacino, a trip to Petco or Pet Supermarket to pick out a toy, maybe even a trip to Home Depot to visit with some other good pups and people.

During the CHAMPION day, the VIP will be wearing a G.E.L.A Foundation “Adopt Me” bandanna, and the volunteer will get a FREE G.E.L.A. Foundation shirt or hat and the information on how they can be adopted from their respective shelter or rescue. Photos of their special day will also be taken throughout and shared on the G.E.L.A. Foundation’s social media page for adoption promotion all month long.  If the shelter or rescue has a website or any social media pages, we highly encourage the adoption promotion and photos be shared there as well.

Be a Happy Holiday Helper

Starting around Thanksgiving time every year we will set up boxes across several areas across the US. You can help us help the pups in shelters by either setting up a box OR donating to one.

Donate to the less fortunate pups spending holidays in a shelter/rescue. In remembrance of our rescued friend Miss Happy.

Items to donate - non perishable dog food and treats, toys, blankets, beds, collars, leashes, towels, dog sweaters, gift cards for local pet stores.

Help us help them

We help shelters and rescues with funding when needed for the care and rehoming of pets. When we have more funds we can do more. Every penny helps.
